3 DEFINING MOMENTS

My first defining moment was when I produced my first song. The song was not very good, however, I was really proud that I was able to make each element and assemble simple loops into something good. Adding on, I learned essential ways to harmonize with my own voice, and learned what it took to make a song. This taught me that I am capable of something that I thought was completely out of reach, and defined the rest of my life by making me have a new passion in production and songwriting.

My next defining moment was when I made my series of three paintings. These paintings symbolized me going free and having a new start to my life. I chose each of the paintings to symbolize life (the blue butterfly), struggle (alone in the forest), then death (the transparent butterfly), which was the first time I tried to convey a deeper meaning in my paintings. It showed me that I can still express myself in multiple mediums and almost let people view what I see. This defined the rest of my life by making me do more variations in my art rather than just music or just painting.

My last defining moment was when I learned to drive. At first it was very hard learning how to drive, I was very nervous and shaking. Sometimes I even turned to blaming others for how poor my driving skills were. However, as I drove more, it helped me to gain confidence that I can learn whatever I feel is hard and that it will always get easier. I even got way better at driving than I was before and gained skills I thought were impossible. This changed the way I viewed my life since it encouraged me to keep trying in everything no matter what.

2 CRITICAL CHOICES

One critical choice I have made is to take 4 AP classes in my junior year. Taking these AP classes helped me to define my future in schooling and improve in all aspects of my education. Specifically, I improve in literary analysis, knowing about general biology, and also history. This, overall, made me well-rounded and will help me in all aspects involving writing as well as my major in science. Adding on, these classes also put a lot of stress on me, however it taught me how to manage time better and deal with stressful workloads.

Another critical choice I made is when I decided to take AVID. This commitment helped to define my future in terms of giving me communication and organizational tools. At first, I found it quite hard to adjust to the organizational methods of AVID as well as coming out of my shell in tutorials. However, as I was able to make more friends, I found AVID to be more easy and almost a safe space to work on my missing assignments, and a place to organize my life. Overall, this let me bring organization into my life through binder checks and also let me improve my communication skills through tutorials, helping set me up for a better future.

1 INFLUENTIAL PERSON

One influential person in my life is Sarah. I feel that Sarah has been there with me through thick and thin, even though the thick and thin was only for one year. I love her personality, and how she supports me through everything. She has influenced me positively by giving me a positive and open environment to let me express myself. She has also made me realize that I should be giving more encouragement to my friends, which I felt I hadn’t been doing enough to begin with. Overall, these qualities helped influence me to be a better person towards others and also be kinder to myself in the end.
